Iced Lavender Matcha Latte (Paleo, Whole 30, AIP)
OMG, how great is Matcha? It came on the scene quickly, but if you ask me, it’s hear to stay.
So why is Matcha so popular?
Well, for starters, it sure does make a gorgeous drink! By growing the Matcha leaves in the shade, and avoiding direct sunlight, the leaves keep more of their chlorophyll. When they’re dried and ground into a fine powder, they keep their gorgeous green color.
Matcha has fantastic health benefits, ranging from:
- Contains high levels of ECGC- which is thought to prevent certain types of cancer and aide in healthy weight
- Lowers blood pressure naturally
- Lowers LDL cholesterol naturally
- Super high in antioxidants
- Prevents liver damage
- and so much more!
So how do you drink Matcha?
I like it iced and hot, in smoothies, or on it’s own. The only thing I don’t do is mix it solely with water. It has a very strong grassy taste, and too much of it can definitely be tough on the palate. I always like to combine it with coconut milk, or my favorite nut milk.
