Finishing my commitments… the ENFP struggle is real.

Finishing my commitments… the ENFP struggle is real.

Have you ever taken a personality test? I find them absolutely fascinating, and the descriptions about 99.9999% true. At least for me. If you haven’t taken one yet, I highly recommend looking in to 16 Personalities. After some (okay, many) questions, they filter you into one of 16 core personalities. I happened to land on ENFP- The Campaigner.

ENFP personality

Now, I’ll be honest, I always thought I don’t really fit into any one box, and I can float from one group to the next. Apparently, so can most ENFPs! We’re free spirits, observant, overly curious, relaxed and friendly. (toot my own horn, much?) However, there’s a flaw that resonates with me more than any other. Here’s an excerpt from the 16 Personalities profile:

Poor Practical Skills – When it comes to conceiving ideas and starting projects, especially involving other people, ENFPs have exceptional talent. Unfortunately their skill with upkeep, administration, and follow-through on those projects struggles. Without more hands-on people to help push day-to-day things along, ENFPs’ ideas are likely to remain just that – ideas.

My entire life, I have started projects only to let them fall by the wayside as nothing more than a half-done something. Whatever it was- books, blankets, diets, workout regimens- it didn’t matter. I would spend DAYS thinking up a grand scheme, putting all the plans into place, recruiting friends along the way. All to end up stopping, sometimes not even halfway through.

So I made it a personal goal of mine- a resolution if you will- to finish the things I said I was going to start in 2016. And by golly, so far, so good. Here are the things I’ve committed to this year so far:

  • Sign up for and DO all 108 sun salutations with the Body Electric Yoga Company. (Accomplished!)
  • Finish the Whole 30 (Accomplished! No cheating!)
  • Book the West Highland Way (Accomplished!)
  • Walk all 100 miles of the West Highland Way (to be done in August!)

And that’s where the blog comes in. I’ve started a blog in the past. Ok, I lied. I’ve started like… 3? 5? blogs in the past, and all have gotten a few posts and I’ve bailed. Well, this is the year I commit. So here and now, on March 24, 2016, I’m committing to this blog. Who cares what I write about? If you’re reading this, I can promise you now, it probably won’t be anything too exciting! You may get things like craft tips, random musings about life, cool shit I did in St Pete, hilarious Murray stories, and who knows what else.

That being said, I’m committing to writing. So love it or hate it… here goes nothin.
